Emergency shut down (ESD) valves are important equipment on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers and LNG-powered ships. Both the IGC code and IGF code have a series of requirements for ESD valves. This paper studies the closing time, realization type and application scope of the ESD valve on a LNG carrier and a large LNG-powered container ship, and also describes the special design of the ESD valve by comparison with the conventional remote control valve, and compares the differences in the requirements of the IGC code and IGF code for the ESD valve.

In view of the oil and gas pollution caused by the ventilation of the fuel oil storage tank to the main deck, an optimal design scheme and a systematic design process have been proposed according to the characteristics of the closed overflow ventilation system of the fuel oil storage tank. It is proved that the optimal design scheme can meet the system design requirements and avoid the oil and gas pollution on the main deck through the combination of theoretical calculation and CFD simulation of a 2 200 TEU container ship.

Energy Consumption Analysis of Engine-Room Fans Using Variable Frequency System
YANG Fan, LIN Zhen, LIU Chen
Ship & Boat    2020, 31 (04): 108-114.   DOI: 10.19423/j.cnki.31-1561/u.2020.04.108
Abstract136)            Save
The design scheme of the variable frequency fan for a 20 000 TEU container ship is given as the optimum efficiency point of the engine-room fans under the variable working conditions are determined by fitting the efficiency curve. The energy-saving effect that can be produced by installing the variable frequency system on the engine-room fan is estimated by analyzing the environmental climate and the different working conditions of the typical Eurasian routs. A reasonable economic benefit analysis method is finally put forward for the fan with the variable frequency system.

On Technology of 3D Modeling Driven by 2D Layout
ZOU Meng-yao, YAN Li-min, YANG Zhong-yuan, LIN Zhen
Ship & Boat    2020, 31 (01): 95-101.   DOI: 10.19423/j.cnki.31-1561/u.2020.01.095

The digital and intelligent technology is continuously developing for ships. An innovative three-dimensional (3D) modeling method based on the 3DExperience (3DE) platform driven by two-dimensional (2D) layout of AutoCAD is explored by combing the advantages of AutoCAD and the advantages of 3DE in digital design. The secondary development of the 3DE platform based on the Component Application Architecture (CAA) implements abilities of the batch creation and attribute extension of the equipment nodes and the automatic call of equipment modeling. The 3D layout modeling of the machinery space in a cargo vessel is generated through reading the data table that is generated from 2D layout by using the secondary development tool, in order to verify the feasibility of this method. The full-scale trial results show that the efficiency of the 3D modeling of the 3DE platform can be greatly improved by using this method. It can provide the specific development methods and the technical routes for the efficient 3D modeling of ships.
