Submission Guidelines for Ship & Boat

Ship & Boat was established in 1990 and is sponsored by the Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC) and supervised by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC). It is a comprehensive academic journal approved by the National Press and Publication Administration and the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau. The journal is published bimonthly in a large 16-page format, with a domestic unified serial number CN 31-1561/U and an international standard serial number ISSN 1001-9855. The postal distribution code is 4-927. The journal focuses on military ships, civilian vessels, and marine engineering equipment, emphasizing industry relevance and professionalism. It integrates academic theory with practical applications, timely publishing theoretical methods, technical approaches, and scientific achievements in the industry and related fields. The journal features special columns such as "Featured Articles," "Overall Design and Structure," "Electromechanical and Equipment," and other related topics.

The journal has adopted the Magtech online manuscript processing system. Authors are requested to visit the official website (http://chuanbo.magtechjournal.com), click on "Author Center" — "Author Submission and Inquiry System" to submit their manuscripts. The submission process is as follows:

Publication Agreement: Authors should carefully read the agreement before submission to clarify issues related to copyright ownership, author attribution, technical confidentiality, and the prohibition of multiple submissions. During submission, the copyright agreement and confidentiality review certificate should be uploaded to the copyright agreement and non-confidentiality proof sections of the journal's submission and review system.

Manuscript Processing Flow:

1. Submission: Manuscripts that fall within the journal's scope, pass the academic misconduct detection, and have all necessary components will be registered and submitted to the responsible editor for initial review.

2. Initial Review: Based on the quality of the manuscript, the editor will decide whether to reject it, request revisions, or send it for external review.

3. External Review: The manuscript will be reviewed by peer experts.

4. Re-review: Manuscripts that pass the external review will be evaluated by the deputy editor or editorial board members for a final decision.

5. Final Review: Based on the external review and editorial board opinions, a final decision (acceptance, revision and resubmission, or rejection) will be made.

6. Editing and Processing: Accepted manuscripts will undergo editing, processing, and publication.

After receiving the manuscript, the editorial board generally makes a decision (revision, review, or rejection) within 30 working days and notifies the author via the system or email. The review process usually does not exceed 60 days. If no notification is received within 60 days, the author should contact the editorial board promptly.

The submitted manuscript must possess scientific accuracy, advancement, innovation, and readability. It must have a clear theme, highlight key points, provide detailed materials, reliable data, a rigorous structure, comply with writing standards, and be accurately expressed with concise language. The main body of academic papers (excluding abstracts and references) should be no less than 5,000 words, while review papers should be no less than 10,000 words. Specific requirements are as follows:

Title: The title should be concise and precise, preferably without a subtitle, and should not exceed 15 words. An English title is required. Non-standard abbreviations or characters should not be used in the title.

Abstract: The abstract is an essential part of the paper and should typically include: 1) the research purpose; 2) research methods; 3) results; and 4) conclusions. The abstract should be accurate, rigorousclear and concise, without self-evaluation, and should not simply repeat the content of the "Introduction" and "Conclusion" sections. It should be written in the third person and be around 300 words. An English abstract is required.

Keywords: Keywords should be selected from the title, abstract, and main text of the paper and should be standardized terms that reflect the core content of the paper. Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided. Each paper should generally include 4~6 keywords, and an English version is required.

Physical Quantities and Units: The selection and writing of physical quantities, units, and their symbols must comply with national and international standards.

Physical quantities must be standardized: obsolete quantity names should not be used, the same quantity name should not have multiple forms, and self-created quantity names should be avoided. Standardized new names should be prioritized. Except for functions, specific phrases, and numbers, variable symbols should be written in italic letters. Subscript letters should be in roman type if they are descriptive or numerical, and in italic if they represent quantity symbols or coordinate axis symbols. When a variable first appears, its physical meaning and international standard unit should be introduced, and the meaning of superscripts and subscripts should be explained.

Units must be standardized: non-standard units of measurement should be avoided in scientific papers (if necessary, the conversion relationship with standard units of measurement should be provided in parentheses when they first appear), e.g., 1 bar (1 bar = 0.1 MPa). Unit symbols should be written in roman type letters, paying attention to uppercase and lowercase distinctions and whether they are superscripts. The composition of combined unit symbols should comply with standard rules, and certain "symbols" should not be used as unit symbols. Unit symbols should not be misused or modified.

Figures and Tables: Figures and tables should be numbered and titled, should be self-explanatory, and should appear in the text (text first, followed by figures and tables). Figures should be clear, and text should be standardized. Table headers and bodies should have a vertical relationship. Text in figures and tables should preferably be in Chinese. Relevant standards for figures and tables can be downloaded for free from the "Download Center" section of the journal's official website.

Formulas: Formulas should be edited using Mathtype and numbered sequentially in the order they appear in the text, e.g., (1), (2), ... Variables in formulas should be in italic, unit symbols (e.g., kg, mm) and constants (e.g., e, π) should be in roman type, and vectors and matrices should be in bold italic.

References: References should preferably cite recently published journal articles. Academic papers should include no fewer than 7 references, while review papers should include no fewer than 15 references. Specific reference types and codes should follow the GB/T 7714-2015 Information and Documentation—Rules for Bibliographic References and Citations to Information Resources. Relevant standards for references can be downloaded for free from the "Download Center" section of the journal's official website.

Funding Projects: If the paper is part of a funded project, the full name and number of the project should be provided. If there is no relevant funding project, please write "None."

About the Authors: When submitting, please provide a brief introduction of all authors at the end of the paper (including: name, year of birth, gender, educational background, title/graduate supervisor, research fields). The first author and corresponding author should also provide detailed contact information, including email, phone number, and mailing address.
