The exploitation of the deep-sea mineral resources has become one of the important research topics in the world. This article studies the operation technology requirements for the launch and retrieval system on the deep-sea mining vessels. It carries out the analysis and demonstration of the key parameters of the main components, such as derrick, substructure, hoist and string handling system, based on the determination of the main technical parameters. It proposes the configuration scheme of the launch and retrieval system suitable for the operation of deep-sea mining vessels, and provides the preliminary general arrangement plan. It can provide references for the engineering design of the full-scale ships in China.
