Abstract: The 100th session and 101st session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 100 and MSC 101) discussed about levels of autonomy for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), the mandatory instruments related to the maritime safety and security of MASS, and the "Interim Guidelines for MASS Trials". MSC 101 adopted an amendment to SOLAS by the resolution MSC.456 (101) (adopted on 14 June, 2019), which was expected to enter into force on 1 January, 2024 and made amendments to the appendix of SOLAS. It also introduces the delay and regulation of the effective date for SOLAS amendments and resolutions other than the SOLAS amendment, and lists 20 MSC resolutions adopted by MSC 100 and MSC 101.
